Customer Case: Customized Robotic Arm Depalletizing Machine for 25KG Bags of Zinc Sulfate Granules

We customized an ESTUN robotic arm depalletizing machine for depalletizing and bag opening, equipped with a 3D vision camera. The client needs to open the packaging bags of zinc sulfate granules on their production line. Due to the soft material of the packaging bags, the stack tends to deform easily after the outer stretch film is removed. The client explicitly requested vision recognition capabilities. The existing product packaging and production line information are as follows:

Product name: Zinc sulfate granules

Packaging form: PP bag

Product specification: 25 kg per bag

Product/bag dimensions: 650×450×200 mm

Pallet dimensions: 1200×1000 mm

Stacking pattern: 5 pieces per layer, 12 layers in total

Total depalletizing height: 1300 mm

Based on the above basic information and the requirement to match the production line’s feeding speed, we recommended and customized the ER-180 robotic depalletizing and bag opening robot for the client, equipped with 3Dvision camera, a custom gripper (made of 201 stainless steel) and a hopper (made of 201 stainless steel). The robot parameters are as follows:

Parameters
Power supply/Power AC 380V±/5%  three-phase four-wire
Pneumatic Requirements Grippers/Fixtures: 0.8 MPa, 0.3 m³/min

Suction Cups: 0.8 MPa, 0.6-1.1 m³/min

Total air reservoir capacity >600 L

Dimensions Overall height 3m, rotation coverage radius 2.8m, footprint 6×6 m²
Cable Length 3m (from robot body to control cabinet)
Efficiency 115 bags/hour
Power Robot arm body: 15 kW

Robotic Arm Depalletizing Machine

The robotic arm depalletizing machine has been debugged and is ready for customer acceptance.

We Spin supply three mainstream palletizing robots: cartesian coordinate robots, column-type palletizer, and articulated robotic arms. For detailed information on the three palletizing machine types, click here: Automated Palletizing Solutions: A Complete Guide to Cartesian, Column-Type, and Articulated Robots

Articulated Robotic Arm: The Flexible and Intelligent Solution

Professional Design:
Mimicking the human arm, it is a multi‑joint, multi‑degree‑of‑freedom serial robot. Mainstream configurations include 4 axes (base rotation, upper arm swing, forearm swing, wrist rotation) and 6 axes (adding wrist pitch and yaw to the 4‑axis design). Some models specifically optimized for palletizing adopt a 5‑axis high‑rigidity design to simplify the structure and improve stability.

Motion Trajectory:
The working envelope is spherical, and the trajectory is extremely flexible and diverse. Through complex kinematics and trajectory planning algorithms (e.g., inverse kinematics solution), it can achieve arbitrary curved paths in space and adjust the end‑effector’s orientation. Modern systems also integrate AI vision for dynamic path planning.

Applicable and Common Scenarios:
Offering the highest flexibility, it is the first choice for handling multiple varieties and variable batch sizes of materials. It is especially suitable for industries such as e‑commerce logistics, home appliances, 3C electronics, and automotive parts. It can easily accomplish complex tasks like “mixed‑SKU depalletizing/palletizing” and, when equipped with collaborative systems, enables human‑robot collaboration.
